Perhaps failing to find a suitable replacement for Vyapam (Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal), the MP government has decided to change the much maligned name by its less used English name –Professional Examination Board.
The signboard at Vyapam headquarters here, which was whitewashed on Tuesday, now has “Professional Examination Board” painted on it in Devanagiri (Hindi) and English. Also, the building will be known as “Chayan Bhawan”, as mentioned right below “Professional Examination Board” on the signboard.
Minister for technical education Umashankar Gupta had earlier hinted that “M P Pravesh Avam Bharti Mandal” could be the new name of Vypam but the idea seems to have been dropped for some reason.
“Yes, Professional Examination Board would be the new name of Vyapam. This name was already there in the statute but not often used. It will now be official name of Vyapam and all the works including advertisements and correspondence would be carried out by this name. We have been asked not to refer this institution as Vyapam from now onwards,” said a Vyapam official on condition of anonymity.
Following the change in name, the next on the agenda of Vyapam management is the change in logo. “We are going to come up with a new logo that will be registered soon. The existing logo is being associated with death, suicides and killings. This logo was not registered either. I don’t know how it came into currency,” said the official.
Facade of the Vyapam building is also set to change with painting in a different colour. Meanwhile, changes for foolproof security system would continue so as to restore credibility of the institution, which is responsible for holding entrance tests for various professional courses and recruitment to jobs in state government services on non-gazetted posts.
Yadav said, “Most of the seats of electronics & communication branch and civil branch remained vacant this year and these branches could be hit hard due to surrendering of seats.”
