First-ever `International Ramayan Mela' would be held in Bhopal in the last week of May and it will see participation of artistes from various countries.
The event has been organised by Madhya Pradesh Government's Culture Department in association with Adivasi Lok Kala Parishad and Tulsi Sahitya Academy.
The mela will showcase different forms of Ramlila traditions of India and styles of staging Ram Katha in South-East Asian countries, an official release said in Bhopal.
Artistes' troupes from Indonesia, Myanmar and other countries have been invited for the event. As part of the mela, an exhibition will be organised displaying masks, crowns and attires used in Ram Katha.
Besides special lectures on the great epic, recitation of Ram Katha and its staging will be held.
