Father and brother of a 16-year-old girl were attacked when they complained against alleged sexual harassment by a man in neighbouring Chhatarpur district.

As per the complaint, the girl, who resides in a locality behind Galla Mandi of Chhatarpur city, was returning to her residence from her friend’s house when one Pushpendra Sahu sexually harassed her.

On reaching home, she complained to her family and her father and brother went to Sahu’s place to raise the issue with his family.

However, Sahu and his family attacked the girl’s father and brother with an axe and a knife, injuring them in the process.

The girl has alleged that she was being stalked and harassed by Sahu for the past three to four months.

The latter has a shop near the girl’s house. She said in addition to Sahu, other youths, who were often found standing at the shop, too had harassed her and that no action had been taken despite a complaint being lodged with the police.

However, Civil Lines police’s case inquiry officer LL Jaiswal told media persons that the two sides had clashed over some petty issue and members from both sides had sustained injuries and were admitted to the district hospital.

Complaints were lodged by both sides.

Jaiswal said he was not aware of any previous complaint to the police.
