A police team led by district collector and superintendent of police (SP) raided an illegal sand mine at Ozha village in MP on Sunday evening and seized 17 sand-laden trucks, two Poklain and a hydrolic machine being used for mining of sand.
According to information available, district collector Madhukar Agney and SP Vineet Khanna accompanied by more than 100 police personnel raided an illegal mine at Ozha village under Nayagaon police station and seized 17 trucks full of sand, two pocklain and a hydrolic machine from the site.
However, none of the persons engaged in illegal mining could be nabbed as they had escaped the site probably after being given a tip-off of the impending raid.
The mining licence of this mine in Sindh river had been cancelled five months ago because of non-payment of installment due but mining was being carried out there and sand being sent to UP. After learning about illgal mining, district collector had planned the raid with the SP.
