A dacoit carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head was arrested from Orai city in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. According to police, the dacoit, Anil Yadav, 35, was wanted in eight murder and 28 other crimes.
His gang was active in the border districts of UP and Madhya Pradesh (area under Chambal-Gwalior divisions in MP and Jhansi-Jalaun districts in UP).
While talking to mediapersons, Datia superintendent of police (SP) Santosh Kumar said that police had received a tip-off that Yadav was hiding in the house of his relative Lala Yadav at Sushil Nagar in Urai. A police team sent from MP with the help of UP STF nabbed the dacoit on Tuesday night.
The SP said Yadav had formed a gang following his escape from Datia on May 11, 2004 and was committing crimes in the bordering districts of both UP and MP. He was allegedly also involved in contract killings.
