The police on Tuesday inspected the place beneath a lift in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College hospital, where a man was found dead on Monday.
The victim, Om Prakash (50), had gone to the hospital in the evening to see his brother, admitted to a ward on the third floor for treatment of a spinal problem.
Police said prima facie it appears that Om Prakash opted to go down from the third floor by the lift, which was under at that time. Meanwhile, Om Prakash's family members on Tuesday blocked the road in front of the hospital demanding compensation and free treatment for the victim's brother undergoing treatment.
Shakuntala Bai, the victim's mother, said that she had lost a son, who was supporting the family. Garha police station town inspector RP Tiwari said that the matter is being investigated and action would be taken against the person responsible for not putting up a caution note on the lift's door.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College hospital superintendent Dr PK Kasar said that a technician who came to repair the lift first noticed the body lying beneath the lift.
