An employee of government-owned Security Paper Mill (SPM) allegedly murdered his wife and 12-year-old daughter, before hanging self to death in his house at Rasuliya locality of Hoshangabad district on Wednesday.
While 45-year-old SPM assistant storekeeper Sanjay Fasate was found hanging to death, his wife – 40-year-old Priti -- and daughter Simi were found dead in the bedroom.
The couple also had a son who is studying in Class XI in adjoining Burhanpur district.
Sanjay lived with his wife and daughter on the first floor, while his parents lived on the ground floor.
Sanjay’s parents found the doors locked from inside
When the three did not come out of their rooms till around 11:30 am on Wednesday, Sanjay’s parents went upstairs and found the doors locked from inside.
The matter was immediately informed to Hoshangabad Dehat police.
“With the doors of the first floor locked from inside, the police had to climb upstairs through a wooden ladder. On breaking open the doors, it was found that Sanjay was hanging to death through the ventilator of the drawing room, while Priti and Simi were found dead in the bedroom,” added Singh.
Suicide note recovered from the spot
The police said wounds on Priti’s and Simi’s head suggested that Sanjay had killed them with a heavy object, before killing self. A suicide note allegedly written by Sanjay was also found from the spot, which is being presently examined by the police.
According to police sources, primary investigations revealed that besides working at the SPM, Sanjay was also into a property dealing business with some friends and relatives. Financial loss in business is suspected to have triggered the murder-cum-suicide.
