A farmer whose brother committed suicide six days ago ended his life by hanging himself from the branch of a tree at his agriculture field in MP's Damoh district on Friday.
Both the brothers were upset due to damage to their crops caused by untimely rains and hailstorm.
The incident took place at Mangua Ghat village under Nauhta police limits. The family members and local sources have attributed these suicides to damage to their crops.
According to police sources, the farmer, identified as Veeren Lodhi (52), was found hanging from a tree. It was on March 29 when Lodhi’s elder brother Rooplal (55) had committed suicide.
Both these brothers had three acres each and one acre was with their father.
On Friday, the family members came back home after immersing ashes of Rooplal in a river.
Lodhi asked his wife to go to a shop and bring a coconut for offering to the local deity. Before his wife could return, he reached his agriculture land and ended his life.
Tedukheda sub-divisional magistrate CP Patel said Lodhi chose to end his life as he was upset over his brother's death.
Though it was true that some of Rooplal's crops had been damaged, he had committed suicide as he was suffering from some disease, Patel said.
