Police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping a 25-year-old Mumbai-based woman on numerous occasions after befriending her on Facebook. The man was nabbed from Ashoka Garden locality in Bhopal on Thursday . The accused had also allegedly taken some objectionable photos of the victim and extorted about Rs 1.5 lakh from her by threatening to make those photos viral on social media.
Accused was earlier arrested in April this year for trying to abduct a girl
The accused, Amir Khan, had been earlier arrested in April this year for allegedly trying to abduct a 24-year-old girl near her hostel in MP Nagar locality. The girl escaped the abduction bid by jumping off the moving car and Khan was later released after a compromise was struck in the case between the two.
According to the police, the accused Khan allegedly befriended the victim who used to work as a make-up artist in Mumbai in May this year. After befriending her on Facebook, he went to Mumbai to meet her where both of them established physical relationship. The accused also took objectionable photos of the victim on his mobile phone and later used them to extort about Rs 1.5 lakh from her by threatening to make those viral on social media.
Accused continued to blackmail the girl and called her to Bhopal
Khan continued to blackmail her and called the victim to Bhopal in October. He took her to a local hotel in Ashoka Garden where he again raped her repeated times after sedating her by giving her cold drink mixed with addictives. The victim later went back to Mumbai and tried to find the background of the accused in which she came to know that he had done the same thing with other girls, police added.
“She came to Bhopal two days ago after and lodged a complaint against the accused on Wednesday evening. Based on the complaint the police arrested him on Thursday and registered a case against him under relevant sections of IPC. Investigations are on in the case,” said town inspector, Manish Mishra.
