The Congress party state vice- president Manak Agrawal who was attacked by the sand mafia in Nasrullahganj on June 25 said the local Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) leaders were mounting high pressure on the Sehore collector in trying to lessen the seriousness of the June 25 incident.
Agrawal said the Congress did not lodge a complaint at the police station about the incident but it did not mean that the sand mafia had not tried to attack him and the business of illegal digging and transportation of sand was not being done in the area. “The Congress did not lodge a complaint at the police station about the incident because the collector, the superintendent of police (SP) were informed on the mobile phone about my presence on June 25 and when the armed goons attacked me the sub- divisional magistrate (SDM) and the town inspector ( TI) were present there and are eyewitnesses,” added Agrawal. He said the officials could have taken action against the goons but the SDM did not take any action. He further alleged that sand was being dug and transported on the indication of the chief minister in the Budni area.
