In a message to the state BJP unit, state incharge and national vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that results of the membership drive would be the basis for evaluation of the party organisation.
He was speaking while reviewing the ongoing membership drive of the BJP at the state party headquarters here on Monday.
He said that the drive should not only be taken as a number game but should be treated by workers and leaders alike as a festival.
The BJP is presently short of its target of enrolling 2 crore members for the party by March 31. All focus of the party activities is now on the membership drive as the elections to urban bodies are now over as well.
Addressing a meeting of state BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, organisational general secretary Arvind Menon, organisational secretaries of all 9 divisions of the party in the state and district presidents, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said that the MP unit of the BJP has a good name across the country.
He said that the numbers attained thus far by the party are satisfactory, but office-bearers will have to work at twice their present rate to ensure the membership target of 2 crore is met by March 31.
Former CM Sunderlal Patwa, Kailash Joshi, former union minister Vikram Verma were also present.
