MeT sounds alert; very heavy rainfall likely in many parts of MP

Alert has been issued by Meteorological Department for very heavy rainfall in several parts of Madhya Pradesh in next 24 hours.

A low pressure area over South East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh and monsoon trough line passing from Guna district may bring very heavy rainfall at several parts of the state.

Regional Meteorological Centre Bhopal has released alert of very heavy rainfall for Hoshangabad division and Khandwa, Burhanpur, Chhindwara and Seoni districts. Alert of heavy rainfall has been released for Bhopal division and Khargone, Indore, Narsinghpur, Dewas, Agar, Shajapur, Mandla and Balaghat districts.

District administration of all these districts have been instructed to get low lying areas of their respective districts vacated. MeT office has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places over Hoshangabad and Bhopal divisions and Khandwa, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Chhindwara, Seoni and Narsinghpur districts. Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over rest of Ujjain division and rest of Indore and Jabalpur division.

Meanwhile, Pachmarhi recorded highest rainfall in the state on Thursday with 83mm rainfall followed by Guna -34 mm, Seoni - 29mm, Betul- 16mm, Gwalior- 15mm, Umaria - 14mm and Bhopal -0.6 mm.
