Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while speaking at a function to felicitate pensioners on Tuesday said the public interest schemes are chalked out with compassion and sense of service. The CM was accompanied by Union minister of state for coal Piyush Goyal.

Senior citizens need service the most and keeping this humanitarian angle in view, the Centre has launched minimum pension scheme, said Chouhan, adding that under the scheme, the pension of workers has been fixed at Rs 1,000 per month.

Goyal said the pensioners’ role is important in progress of the country. The decision of the Central government to implemented minimum pension scheme is historic and it will benefit 32 lakh families in the country, he added.

Some pensioners were also felicitated during the programme. Additional commissioner employees’ provident fund (EPF) PD Sinha informed that there are 1.40 lakh pensioners under EPF in MP, of which about 1 lakh would benefit from the scheme.
