MP: 17-year-old girl commits suicide for failing to clear Class XII examination

A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in Dewas district on Monday for failing to clear her Class XII examination, police said.

Dewas kotwali police said Shivika, daughter of Mahesh Nimbalkar, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze after pouring kerosene at her residence on Monday morning.

"After initial investigation, it was revealed that the victim who was higher mathematics students did not do well in her board exams, the results of which were declared on Sunday. She had failed in one subject," police said.

No suicide note was found from the site.

Victim's uncle Umesh Nimbalkar said on Monday at around 10 am, when she along with her mother at home, she poured kerosene and set herself ablaze.

Family-members took her to private hospital from where she was referred to Indore’s MY Hospital.

At Indore, she was pronounced brought dead by doctors.

This is the second suicide incident after state board class 12 result declared on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, another student had committed suicide in Oon village of Khargone district after he failed in the examination.
