bhopal Updated: Nov 27, 2015 21:23 IST

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped and set on fire in Samona village of Dholpur district in Rajasthan. She was later admitted to JA hospital in Gwalior for treatment on Thursday.

The girl suffered almost 90% burn injuries and was critical, with very little chance of survival, said the duty doctor.

Rajakheda police station in-charge Sitaram visited the burns department at JA hospital to record the victim’s statement on Friday. Samona village comes under Rajakheda police station.

Inspector Sitaram said a case was registered and police were searching for the accused Ranu who also belongs to Samona village.

ASP Virendra Jain said the matter will be investigated by Rajasthan police and the Madhya Pradesh police would help them in this connection.

The girl’s mother claimed Ranu barged into their house while she was away on Wednesday. The girl’s father was sleeping outside the house. Ranu sprinkled kerosene and set the victim on fire after she raised an alarm.
