Punjab National Bank's (PNB) chief manager Sanjay Srivastava, 48, died after he jumped off his office building on Wednesday.

Srivastava was seen lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He had received head injury, which apparently led to his death. Srivastava, who lived in Chuna Bhatti, headed the Information Technology (IT) operations in the bank.

It is learnt that he left his seat around 1.30pm and was walking while talking on his cellphone. He went towards the staircase gallery where most officials used to go to get proper cellular network. However, after some time, he was found lying on the floor.

The police also reached the spot later. "He fell off the third storey of the building. He apparently jumped from the gallery," said a police official investigating the case. "There was a railing too and it appears to be a case of suicide," the officer added.

Later on Wednesday evening, the police said they had found a handwritten note from the pocket of his coat in which it was mentioned that he was committing suicide. "He mentioned that he was ending his life and no one should be held responsible for it," said Brajesh Bhargava, town inspector at MP Nagar police station. The police are examining the suicide note and said they would quiz the bank staff to find out the reason for the suicide.
