Madhya Pradesh Congress on Saturday charged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with lying about the quantum of assistance given to the state by the Centre.
State Congress spokesperson KK Mishra told reporters that the assistance given to Madhya Pradesh during the UPA rule was much more than what it had got during the NDA regime.
Mishra said Congress leaders were prepared to debate with their BJP counterparts on this issue at any forum of their choice.
He said Chouhan was spreading lies among people in the hope of getting some benefit in the Lok Sabha elections.
Mishra said the allegations being levelled against the Centre were never mentioned either in Parliament or in the state assembly as no member can utter an untruth there.
He said that all these lies were being spoken of only on streets or at public meetings.
