A 26-year-old farmer committed suicide by hanging himself in Bhind district on Sunday night.
According to police, Sunil Rajawat, a resident of Sagara village in Nayagaon (Bhind), owned 10 bigha agricultural land. He had taken Rs 80,000 as loan from bank but he had failed to repay this loan. The reason was crop failure due to unseasonal rainfall for the past three years.
Sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) JP Shakya said that Sunil Rajawat took this extreme step because of crop failure.
However, sources said that Rajawat was in depression as district administration revenue team had not conducted survey of the damaged crop on his fields.
Rajawat hanged himself by a tree on Sunday night. Police recovered his body on Monday morning. The deceased's elder brother Anil Rajawat said that his wheat crop sown in 10 'bigha' land got ruined because of untimely excessive rainfall.
Bhind collector Madhukar Agneya said, "Revenue team has been informed about death of farmer and efforts will be made to provide every possible help to the kin of the deceased."
