A host of top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Madhya Pradesh state party president Nand Kumar Chauhan and several members of Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet, visited the Special Investigation Team (SIT) office and handed over an application to SIT chairman Justice Chandresh Bhushan.
In their application, they reiterated that Digvijaya Singh was trying to 'mislead' the investigation related to the Professional Examination Board (PEB) scam and the excel-sheet, which he (Digvijaya) claims to possess, could not be original because the original excel sheet had been seized by the Special Task Force (STF), which is investigating the case, months ago.
A charge sheet in the case had already been filed in High Court and both the HC and Supreme Court dismissed petitions filed by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijaya Singh that made similar complaints, the application said.
Earlier this week, Singh and lawyer Vivek Tankha had visited the SIT office and handed over a set of documents that they claimed were 'evidence related to involvement of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan'in the scam.
Charging the Congrerss leaders of resorting to slander to derive political mileage, the BJP leaders asked the SIT chairman to dispose of the issue quickly so that investigation into the scam was not delayed.
Chauhan was accompanied by state ministers Narottam Mishra and Umashankar Gupta and Bhopal mayor Alok Sharma amongst others.
