A female leopard was electrocuted in the South Ukawa forest range of district Balaghat on Saturday.

Forest officials found wire mesh near the spot where the leopard was found lying dead.

The leopard was 18-month-old.

Ukawa forest range officer RN Lohar said there was burn mark on the tail of the leopard, while the rest of the body was intact.

High-tension electricity lines cross near the spot where the leopard was lying dead. A wire was found anchored to the high-tension line, pulling the electricity down to ground level, he said.
