The MP high court has issued an interim stay on the decision of the state government to post deputy collector level officers of state cadre as registrars in different universities of the state.
The MP high court has issued an interim stay on the decision of the state government to post deputy collector level officers of state cadre as registrars in different universities of the state.
The bench of justice KK Trivedi issued the interim order while hearing a petition of the State University Officers’ Federation on Wednesday.
The federation had filed the petition demanding quashing of the government order posting two deputy collector-level officers at posts equivalent to registrars at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, and Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur.
The federation had also sought direction from the court to ensure that deputy collectors or officers of cadres other than state university cadre should not be posted in the universities and that the deputy registrars presently working in state universities should be promoted.
The court has asked the state government to submit reply in the matter during an early hearing, but the government counsel demanded more time during hearing on Wednesday for detailed reply.
While allowing this time, the court granted an interim stay on the order of the state government.
B Bharti, general secretary of the university officers’ federation, expressed happiness over the interim direction of the court and said they are hopeful for a positive outcome of the case.
He said the state university cadre officers have been discriminated with for long as no departmental promotion meetings for promotion of deputy registrars to registrars had been held for seven years.
Meanwhile, the state government decided to post state cadre officers to universities, further blocking the opportunity of promotion for the deputy registrars, he said.
