MP: IAS officer removed after his audio clip went viral

Madhya Pradesh commissioner of tribal welfare Jagdish Malpani was removed from his post on Friday after an audio clip went viral on social media.

The audio had voices of two people in conversation in which one of them was heard commenting ‘Akele Akele khaoge to badhazmi ho jayegi’ (You would suffer indigestion if you eat alone).

Sources say that this was the conversation between commissioner tribal welfare and assistant commissioner of Badwani RK Shroti. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan removed him from the post and has constituted an inquiry into the matter.

The audio tape that went viral late on Thursday night had its impact on Friday morning. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took cognizance of the audio and called principal secretary of tribal welfare department BR Naidu and inquired about the incident. (audio tape with HT also)

Later in the day orders for removal of Malpani were issued who had been posted as OSD (officer on special duty) in Mantralya.

According to sources, Shroti in his explanation had told senior officials that he was being continuously fleeced by the commissioner and had to ultimately record him. On the other hand, Malpani while giving oral explanation to senior officials had denied that the audio had his voice.

Chief minister Chouhan has ordered an inquiry into the matter and has deputed principal secretary water resource department RS Julania to inquire into the matter and submit his report within two weeks.
