MP: Jeweller robbed of Rs 46 lakh at Ashta bus stand, accused absconding

A jeweller hailing from Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district was robbed of Rs 46 lakh early on Monday morning after unknown accused robbed his bag in which the amount was kept in Ashta town of Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh.

The victim was travelling to Indore from Sagar in a bus when the accused robbed his bag at Ashta bus stand where the bus had taken a halt on the way to Indore. A case has been registered by the police and investigations are on to nab them, police said.

According to Ashta police, the victim Narendra Agrawal was travelling to Indore with the amount in the bag. On Monday at around 5 am, he went to relieve himself at Ashta bus stand where the bus had stopped. He went to the toilet but left the cash bag near his seat. On returning he saw a man stepping down from the bus with his bag.

He shouted at the accused and gave a brief chase to nab him but in vain. During the chase he caught hold of the accused and was involved in a brief scuffle with him, but the accused managed to escape from his clutches by fleeing in a car which was waiting for him, added police.

A case has been registered by the police and a manhunt is on to nab the accused.
