Taking a giant step towards digitizing governance, the Madhya Pradesh government has introduced 'MP Mobile Project' to deliver public services anywhere and anytime through information technology.
The ambitious project seeks to integrate the public services of the government departments, organisations and agencies with MP Mobile and make them easily accessible to the customers.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had made an announcement regarding MP Mobile Project in April at the e-Governance Awards Distribution Function.
Hari Ranjan Rao, secretary to CM and information technology, said through this one mobile app, people could avail services of various government departments.
"Similarly, through one website www.mpmobile.gov.in people can get desired services on their mobile phones. Those who do not have access to smartphones can also avail USSD facilities by dialing just one code. In this way, a person can avail government services using any of the three alternatives on MP Mobile," he added.
Under the project, every government department has been directed to develop its own mobile application or interface and will hand it over to MAP_IT, a government society which has been established to propel the growth of information technology (IT) in the state, sources said. The service will be provided in a phase wise manner by MAP_IT.
The departments and institutions that have joined the MP Mobile Project, include Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, Power Distribution Companies, AIIMS Hospital, MAP_IT and various universities.
