Reverse osmosis (RO) water booths, modern toilets for women, toll-free helpline for public grievances and monorail in small municipal corporation areas are among a host of promises made by the Congress ahead of the civic body polls in Madhya Pradesh.

In its manifesto for the urban bodies’ polls released on Tuesday, Congress tried to woo all sections of society, especially women.

Congress also tried to highlight dengue menace currently gripping the state capital and said all the efforts would be made to ensure that lives were not lost due to vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.

Releasing manifesto at the PCC headquarters, state president Arun Yadav said, "The residents of Madhya Pradesh are facing several problems relating to basic amenities like proper sanitation, cleanliness, multi-level taxation system and water supply."

Considering corruption a major impediment in getting death and birth certificates, below poverty line (BPL) cards and water tankers, Congress promised to provide certificates and cards easily without any complications. The water supply through tankers will be provided on a call.

Congress also assured to discharge the officers and employees from their duties, who are facing corruption charges and their cases are pending before lokayukta.

In the manifesto, Congress promised to construct at least 25 modern toilets each in all the major cities of the state exclusively for women and also promised to start a toll free helpline to dispose of public grievances.

In the manifesto, Congress has also given enough space to cleanliness.

Congress will model its cleanliness drive keeping Telangana’s Suryapeth and Tamil Nadu’s Namkallam as a role model.

The party manifesto also dwells on risks posed by stray animals particularly dogs and promises extensive campaign to curb the menace.

Congress further promised regularisation of illegal colonies and residential area. The party also promised to resolve the problem of extortion of money by contractors in the parking lots.

The manifesto also promised a number of other steps including introduction of environment friendly e-rickshaw in cities, which will generate employment for large number of people, free education for meritorious students, single-point single-tax facility by abolishing multi-tax system, regularisation of contractual employees and several more.
