The woman said yes to the 48-year-old railway employee’s proposal for a paid sex on Saturday night after they drank liquor together outside the Shahdol railway station. The action that followed was horrifying.
Soon after Ram Kishore Yadav brought the woman home in Railway Colony, they had an argument over payment. Irked, Yadav picked up an axe and a knife and hacked the woman to death.
But the real horror unfolded after the murder, said Shahdol Kotwali in-charge Kamlendra Pancholi.
“Yadav used the same axe with which he had murdered the unidentified woman to chop the body into pieces inside his house where he lives alone,” said Pancholi.
To destroy evidence, Yadav, the father of five children who live in native Umaria district, stashed the chopped hands, legs and head of the woman in a bag and rode the cycle to dump the severed head and dismembered limbs near the Shahdol-Anuppur rail line, around half a km from house.
He returned home to carry to rail tracks the chopped remains of the body. But on way back to rail tracks, his cycle tyre punctured, compelling him to dump the body parts in bushes on the backside of his house around 2 am on Sunday.
Chopped remains were spotted by locals
The chopped remains were spotted by residents of the colony in the afternoon and the matter reported to police.
Though Yadav tried best to wash away traces of the crime, some blood stains outside the house led the forensic team into his house on Sunday evening.
Broken bangles of the woman made police zero in on the accused
“Once inside, broken bangles of the woman made us zero in on Yadav as the prime suspect. He was picked up for grilling and finally spilled the beans about the horrific killing,” said Pancholi.
Yadav, who was deployed as a labourer in the parcel booking office at Shahdol railway station, was arrested on Monday for murder and destruction of crime evidence, the Shahdol Kotwali in-charge added.
Yadav told police that he brought the woman, with whom he had been drinking liquor for four days, home and they relished pork and liquor.
Woman demanded Rs 10,000 for the one-night sex
The two, however, had a heated exchange of words when the woman demanded Rs 10,000 for the one-night sex and grabbed Yadav by shirt’s collar.
She also threatened to get him implicated in a false case, if Yadav, who earned Rs 40,000 monthly, didn’t pay her the sum, the kotwali in-charge said.
Accused used to slaughter pigs at his house every Saturday for dinner
According to Pancholi, the arrested Class IV railway employee revealed that every Saturday he slaughtered pigs at his house for dinner. He used the same technique to chop the murdered woman into pieces on Saturday night.
“We have recovered the axe and knife used in the crime and are now trying to establish the identity of the young woman who loitered around railway station every night,” said Pancholi.
