MP: Saving daughter from husband's wrath, woman gets shot, dies

In a bid to save her 22-year-old daughter, a woman has fallen prey to the bullet of her ex-service man husband in Narasinghpur district, about 90 km west of Jabalpur district headquarters, on Thursday, police said on Friday.

The accused Lakhan Singh was arrested and sent to jail for killing his wife, police added. Lakhan, who was in an inebriated state, pulled his gun on his elder daughter Monaon Thursday night, asking her to leave the house at once, the police added.

On seeing the girl in danger, Ragini (40) came in between her husband and daughter. But as Lakhan pulled the trigger, the shot hit Ragini in the chest and she died on the spot.

The accused who worked as a security guard with a bank in Amgaon Bada village in the district was arrested by the police.

Talking to HT, Narsinghpur Kotwali police station town inspector RP Gautam said the accused was worried about his wife's ailments that that forced her to remain bedridden.

So, Lakhan restricted her daughters from going outside the house, he said. The accused has two daughters and two sons.

The police recovered the 12 bore gun that was used to kill Ragini, three cartridges and her blood-stained from the house Lakhan. Mona lodged a complaint with the police against her father.
