The state Congress president Arun Yadav on Tuesday said the charges levelled by the party against chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were true and the special task force (STF) probing the PEB scam has in fact been working just for Chouhan, trying to save him and his family.
Yadav said Chouhan was the 'mukhya kartadharta' (kingpin) of the PEB scam, and for a year STF's sole job is protect him, either through tampering evidences or other means of manipulations.
"My direct allegation is that the CM is fully involved in the scam and he should resign," said Yadav.
"Congress has revealed the facts and if we are wrong, we dare them (BJP) to take action against us. We are ready for it," Yadav added while addressing a press.
The State Congress chief said that so far just one layer of the scam has come out, and it needs a CBI inquiry to reveal the entire scam.
"We have repeatedly maintained that the STF can't conduct a fair probe in this scam," he said.
Replying to a query, he said that governor Ramnaresh Yadav's name has come up in connection with the scam and he should resign on moral grounds. On Monday, senior Congress leaders had addressed a joint press conference, on the issue of PEB scam.
AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh had said that the documents (excel sheet) obtained from PEB's former system analyst Nitin Mahindra had chief minister's name at 48 places but it was removed by the probe agencies.
Singh has also released the copy of the excel sheet, which he claimed to be the original document.
