Taking a strong exception to the alleged custodial torture of a youngster in Satna, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has sought an explanation from Satna police.

The rights panel has asked the superintendent of police (SP), Satna, to submit a report within a week. MPHRC chairman justice AK Saxena took cognizance of the report published in Hindustan Times on Thursday.

The youngster’s mother has also written a letter to the MPHRC, seeking justice for her son. In her letter, Mahima Singh, a native of Satna, has written that her son, Mayur, 21, is working with a private company and is posted in Jammu & Kashmir.

“When he recently came here on holiday, the policemen barged into our house at night and forcibly took him away. Despite all efforts, we failed to find which police station he was kept in. As we were running from pillar to post and had no information, we had even failed to get a lawyer. By the time he had been subjected to inhuman torture. Later, he was produced in court and then remanded to judicial custody.”

In her complaint, she mentions that policemen put petrol in her son’s private part. She has named town inspector Kolgawan Anil Vajpeyi, two other TIs — Mahendra Singh, Surendra Singh — and crime branch in-charge Satyendra Singh for framing his son in a false case and torturing him.

“The policemen hadn’t told us anything as to why they were taking away my son. They also took away my husband’s licensed revolver and motorcycle from the house.”

The complainant said that around 10 police personnel had barged into the house on the particular night. The panel has taken this letter into cognizance too.

The family members found that the youngster had been tortured when his cousin went to jail to meet him.

In view of his condition, Mayur was admitted to jail hospital since he went to prison and later jailer referred him to another hospital.

The youngster has claimed that baton was pushed into his private part that injured his entrails besides inserting chilli powder in his body.
