MP: Teenager arrested for GT Express bomb hoax

A teenaged youth who made a hoax call about a bomb being placed in the GT Express was arrested by the police at Ghoradongri station in Betul district on Monday evening.

A 17-year-old youth who had made a hoax call about a bomb in the Grant Trunk Express was arrested by the police at Ghoradongri station in Betul district on Monday.

The railway helpline received information through whatsapp that a bomb had been placed on the GT Express. The message was conveyed to railway police and the train was stopped at Ghoradongri station where it was searched and no bomb was found.

The police then traced the number from which the message had been sent. It was found that the phone belonged to a youth who was a resident of Pathakheda, Sarni in Betul district.

The youth who studies in polytechnic in Bhopal was to board the train to Bhopal. During preliminary inquiry it was found that he had got late and felt that he would miss the train.

Hence, he decided to create the bomb scare to delay the train and then board it.

The train was coming from Chennai and going towards Delhi. The Railway police have registered a case and are quizzing the teenager.
