MP: Two MBA students held for misusing cheque book they received accidently

Two MBA students, who got a cheque book accidently, went on a shopping spree and have now landed in police custody.

The students, identified as Vikram Shrivastava, a resident of Gwalior district and Rajnikant Pamre, a resident of Seoni district, are MBA students at a private college in the city.

According to the police, both of them took a flat in Rachna Nagar on rent about a year ago. A few months later, they received a cheque book through courier.

The cheque book was in the name of Dinesh Singh Chouhan, who used to live in the flat earlier. Dinesh is a lecturer at a government school in Hoshangabad district.

The duo started purchasing household goods like refrigerator, almirah, bed, television, among other things using cheques. When one of the students gave a cheque to an electronic shop owner in Indrapuri area, the shopkeeper, Manish lodged a complained at Piplani police station.

Town inspector of Piplani police station, Rupesh Dubey said the accused had been detained and were being interrogated. During the investigation, Piplani police found that cheques of the same bank account had bounced and a complaint was lodged at various police stations of the city. They traced both the accused and interrogated them. Later, both the students confessed their crime.

They would be produced in court and police would seek their custody on Monday, he said.
