The two-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man in Shivpuri district on Sunday, remained critical on Tuesday, her mother told HT.
The girl is admitted to Kamla Raja Hospital in Gwalior.
The accused, 50-year-old Prithviraj Koli, was produced in district court on Tuesday and sent to 15-day judicial remand.
Town inspector of Karera police station Kailash Babu Arya said the girl was admitted at child care unit of Kamla Raja Hospital.
"As I was informed by her parents, she is critical but out of danger," Arya said.
The incident took place at Toda village under Karera police of the district on Sunday.
Koli lured the girl on the promise of a chocolate and took her to a field and allegedly raped her. When the girl fell unconscious, Koli took her to her house, telling her parents that she got injured while playing on the field.
However, some time later, the mother saw her daughter bleeding from her vagina. She immediately called her family members who beat up Koli and handed him over to the police.
Koli has been booked for rape under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
