Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a dacoit of Madhya Pradesh's Chambal region, who is wanted in several criminal cases in MP, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Police said the department had announced a reward of Rs 85,000 for the capture of the dacoit Dhara Singh aka Surendra Singh.
District superintendent of police Navneet Bhasin said the Agra Special Task Force (STF) had arrested Singh in Ahmedabad on Friday. He said Singh, in order to dodge police, was working as a driver with a private firm.
Bhasin said Singh was wanted in several cases of killing, attempt to murder, loot and kidnapping. He said Singh and his gang operated in three states and had kidnapped Giriraj Katare in the district in July last year.
After that, the police launched a hunt to nab him. The officer said they would seek his transit remand and bring him to the district for prosecuting him in different cases.
