MPhil student gangraped in MP

An MPhil student of the Barkatullah University in Bhopal was allegedly gangraped by three persons including a doctor in the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) campus, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place yesterday after the girl residing at the varsity hostel left the premises without the permission of the hostel warden on the pretext of meeting a black magician on January 3.

After leaving hostel she went to meet an acquaintance identified as Pradeep More, who then took her to BMHRC to meet one Dr Raghuraj Pandey, police said.

Later they were joined by a black magician Anand Mishra, who in the name of performing some rituals, asked her to drink liquor mixed with medicine to make a her unconscious, Bagh Sevania Police Station head, Gopal Singh Thakur said.

The trio then allegedly gangraped her in turns on the night of January 3, he said.

The girl was rescued on Monday after she messaged her hostel warden about the trouble, during a movie show at a city hall, where Mishra had taken her for a movie.

The warden informed the police, which reached the cinema hall and took the accused into custoday.

On a complaint by the student, the trio was arrested and further probe is on, police added.
