Mayank Sharma, 15, made it to the Limca Book of World Records for adding ten 10-digit numbers in two minutes and five seconds mentally.

The Class 10 student from Shajapur district, 170 km north-east of Indore, broke the record of Spain’s Marc Jornet Sanz, who accomplished the same task in 3.19 seconds in 2012.

Three years ago, Mayank stood first at the 16th Universal Concept Memory Advance System (UCMAS) Abacus and Mental Arithmetic International Competition held in Malaysia.

He solved 198 out of 200 questions correctly in eight minutes.

“I use abacus techniques to solve complex calculations in less time. Four hours of daily practice along helped me create this new record,” said the boy who wants to pursue a career in astronomy.
