Railways to face BPCL in hockey cup final today

The Railways and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will lock horns in the final of Obaidullah Heritage Hockey Cup at Aishbagh stadium on Wednesday

The Railways and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will lock horns in the final of Obaidullah Heritage Hockey Cup at Aishbagh stadium on Wednesday.

The winner team will receive `50 lakh while the runners up will get `25 lakh.

For the third place, the ONGC will play a match with Air India.

In the semi-finals, both the matches ended in penalty shootouts.

In the first semi-final, the BPCL defeated ONGC in the penalty shootout.

For ONGC, PA Macheiah scored the first goal in 9 minutes but Tushar Khandekar leveled the score in 34 minutes.

In the second half, both teams played a defensive game and could not score any goals. The match ended with a 1-1 score. In the penalty shoot-out, the BPCL scored three points while ONGC scored only two goals as Swinder Singh of BPCL managed to save the goals.

Tushar Khandekar was awarded the man of the match.

In the second semi-finals played between Air India and Railways, the latter scored four points in the penalty shoot to win the match.

For Railways, Rohidas and Pradeep Singh scored two goals while for Air India, Arjun Sharma scored a goal in the first half.

In the second half, Air India managed to level the score.
