The car of Congress Rajya Sabha member and former minister, Vijay Laxmi Sadho, hit to death a woman in front of her official residence at Old MLA quarters near Jawahar Chowk on Wednesday.
Sadho, however, was not in the car when the incident took place. Rukmani Devi, 50, had suffered severe injuries and died during treatment at Hamidia Hospital.
Rukmani, a resident of Banganga colony, worked as domestic help in the area. She was having lunch on the footpath in front of MP's bungalow. Meanwhile, a car (MP-04- KG- 0319) came to MP's Bungalow from market side and ran over her while reversing the four-wheeler for parking.
The people who saw the incident informed the police and emergency service-108 and victim was rushed to hospital. However, police were yet to ascertsin as to who was driving the car when the incident took place.
"We have registered a case and investigation was on. It is not clear as to who was driving the car. We are investigating the matter, whosoever was driving the car will be booked," said Town Inspector (TI), TT Nagar Police Station, Manish Raj Singh Bhadauria.
However, Police sources said that according to their information MP's brother Devendra Sadho was driving the car. On the other hand, some eyewitnesses claimed that the car was being driven by a woman.
Eyewitness believed that it was Devendra's wife, who was driving the car and after the incident, she rushed into MP's house, leaving the car behind.
The car is registered in the name of MP's brother Devendra Sadho, who lives in the same locality. But, it is used by MP Vijay Laxmi Sadho, when she is in Bhopal.
