The police custody of Nand Kishor, the man accused of raping and murdering the eight-year-old girl in TT Nagar, was extended by two days on Saturday. The accused was earlier remanded to police custody for three days.
As the remand period ended, he was produced in the court today. The police sought extension of his custody so that it could verify certain more aspects pertaining to the case. On the police plea, the court extended the remand period by two days.
The investigators would now get the opportunity to question him for two more days. The police also hope to get reports of samples sent to forensic labs in the next couple of days. The eightyear-old girl had gone missing on Sunday night.
Her body was recovered from the desolate spot adjacent to Bhopal Mela Ground near the home minister’s bungalow, the next morning. It was on the basis of the victim’s four-year-old brother’s statement that the police had got vital clue and arrested Nand Kishor.
