The retired armyman, who shot dead two persons in a property dispute in Bhopal on Sunday, was produced in the court and sent to jail.
According to the police, the accused Harinarayan Singh, in his statement to police, has maintained his claim over the property.
He said he had a legal document signed by the owner of the property Abhay Narayan Srivas.
“We have started investigation to find out the original owner of the property, as Aditya Upadhya claims that the property belongs to him and the accused has also maintained his claim over the property,” said a police officer, on condition of anonymity.
The police official said the house had been sealed and would be opened only after the court’s instruction.
Life lost over land
Harinarayan Singh had loaned Rs 1 lakh to Abhay Narayan Srivas about 13 years ago
As Srivas failed to repay the loan, Harinarayan constructed a building on Srivas’ plots and rented out the rooms
When Srivas came to repay the loan, he refused to take it, resulting in a dispute
Three months ago, Srivas sold the plots to Aditya Upadhyay
Upadhyay occupied the buildings and appointed his brother-in-law as a caretaker
As they forced Harinarayan’s tenants to pay rent, the accused set out to kill them
