A retired additional superintendent of police (ASP) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed revolver in Ayodhya Nagar in Bhopal on Monday morning.

According to police, Saligram Yuwane, 62, shot himself dead at around 7 am at Dussehra Maidan where he used to go for a morning walk daily.

The preliminary investigation revealed that he was under mental pressure because of his ill health and personal problems, and had not been sleeping for the last few days. His family told police that Yuwane had also undergone a heart bypass surgery.

“The family members of the deceased said he was tense due to some personal matters and was suffering from insomnia. But they never expected him to take such an extreme step. Police were informed by his son Praveen Yuwane,” said Ashish Pawar, town inspector, Ayodhya Nagar.

Police have registered a case and investigations are on.
