In what appeared to be an attempt to give a clean chit to Vijay Kumar, the deputy commandant, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Bhopal Airport Unit, additional director general (ADG) of CISF OP Singh on Sunday said Ritu Kumari, the CISF woman constable who shot herself at Raja Bhoj Airport, suffered from a chronic blood disorder which was incurable.

Fatigue and depression are common manifestations of this ITP (Immune Thromobocytopenic Purpura) disease, Singh added.

Talking to journalists at the CISF Bhopal unit headquarters, Singh chose not to reply more questions related to harassment charge levelled by the woman constable against Vijay Kumar.

"In April, 2014 when she was posted at the Mumbai Airport, she had told me that she was suffering from a chronic blood disorder. She wanted to be transferred to any small-size airport so that she could properly look after herself. Since there was a post vacant in Bhopal, she was transferred here," Singh said.

He added that the court of inquiry, led by Aradhana, a CISF commandant of BHEL Unit, had been started, and the report was expected within four days.

"The district police and the state women commission are also conducting inquiry into the matter. Our inquiry will be very fair and further action will be taken according to probe report. The district police will also take action according to their investigation report," he told the media persons.

The CISF ADG tried to defend the deputy commandant, saying Vijay has taken action as discipline in the force and she was awarded petty punishment of three days' extra duty. "As of now we cannot comment on harassment charges as an investigation is underway. The officer had taken action as per disciplinary norms of the force."

He said the condition of Ritu Kumari, who is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre of AIIMS in Delhi, was stable.

In her statement to police and also to CISF officers, Ritu accused the deputy commandant of harassing her.

Meanwhile, police on Tuesday recorded the statement of deputy commandant Vijay Kumar. He said he took action as per discipline of CISF and haven't harassed Ritu.
