While the state government had issued an order that the students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, who study in different institutions in Madhya Pradesh should be helped in wake of the devastating floods in their state, the opposite happened on the ground as saffron groups attacked the vice-chancellor over the same appeal.

Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Satyadev Katare said this on Tuesday. He cited the order issued by the Higher Education department, dated September 11, 2014.

The order clearly states that due to the flood in J&K, residents are facing severe problems, and if the students from Kashmir have certain issues, there should be immediate steps to redress the problems.

Talking to HT, Katare said that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is not listening to the Prime Minister’s appeal including regarding the need to help people of Kashmir.

The leader of opposition has left for Ujjain to meet the vice-chancellor Jawaharlal Kaul, who was attacked in his office by the Bajrang Dal and VHP activists on Monday.
