An alleged serial paedophile attacker was remanded to police custody on Sunday as the police designated special officers to pursue the nine separate cases lodged against the suspect.

Saurabh Jain alias Sonu, 27, was arrested in Chuna Bhatti on March 25 for the alleged abduction of a four-year old girl with the possible motive of rape. He let the child go after having been unable to silence her.

“He has cases registered against him at different police stations in the city. Officers in-charge of these police stations have been asked to appoint a nodal officer for each case involving Jain so that the cases are expedited and disposed of quickly and the victims get justice,” said superintendent of police (south) Anshuman Singh.

In all the cases, he allegedly abducted minors and was charged with attempted rape, rape or sodomy.

According to police sources, Jain has been named in six cases at Aishbagh police station, one each at Ashoka Garden, Bazaria and Chhuna Bhatti police stations.

Police sources said Jain allegedly committed his first crime when he was a teenager.
