The Madhya Pradesh police has finally woken up to string of audio and video clips pertaining to the Monday early morning gunning down of eight SIMI jail breakers, that have stirred up a major political controversy for the police as well as state government.
The state police has requested commoners to share with it any videos, photos and audio clips pertaining to the encounter of jail breaker SIMI men on Monday early morning in Khijradev village.
The police have released two cellphone numbers 7587602143 and 7049153870 for the public to call and share all possible audio-visual evidence with the electronic evidence division of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of state police.
A string of audio visual clips of the live encounter and associated directions being given by police higher ups to the cops in action have been viral over the social media during the last three days.
The state police has requested people to share the evidence any day between 10 am and 5.30 pm till November 11.
The clips showing the policemen shooting the SIMI men lying on the hilltop and also unarmed SIMI men standing on the hilltop being shot by cops from below have prompted the opposition parties and rights groups to target the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government and the MP police by alleging it was a fake encounter.
According to state police sources, the audio visual evidence will be sent for forensic analysis to ascertain its veracity, including its origin and the voices in the clips.
Meanwhile, the special investigation team (SIT) of CID probing the encounter has recreated over the last two days the entire jail escape by the SIMI operatives, their escape through the 10-12 km route and also their gunning down in the encounter on the hilltop.
The investigation till now doesn’t suggest that the SIMI men, after escaping from the Bhopal Central Jail had used any vehicle to travel to the hillock, but instead walked to the spot taking a circuitous route. The police theory has been bolstered by two private security guards deployed outside a school and a construction site near Abbas Nagar area.
The two security guards who also talked to Hindustan Times on Friday had spotted the eight jail breakers walking through a circuitous route instead of the main road connecting Abbas Nagar to Acharpura.
Further the residents of Khijradev village where the eight men were killed in an encounter too have told the police that the SIMI men didn’t use any vehicle, but instead walked to the hillock.
Eight suspected SIMI operatives, including Amjad, Aqeel Khilji, Khalid, Majid, Zaqir, Mehboob alias Guddu and Mujeeb Sheikh had escaped from Bhopal Central Jail in the wee hours on Monday, after allegedly killing jail’s head warder Ramashankar Yadav. They were gunned down by state police in an encounter eight hours later.
