Six pilgrims from UP killed in road mishap in Bhind, 20 injured

As many as six people were killed while nearly 20 others were injured, four of them critically, when a tractor-trolley overturned in Bhind district on Saturday.

According to police, the victims were pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and had come to pay obeisance at the famous temple at Ratangarh in adjoining Datia district.

The mishap took place when the pilgrims were on their way back, passing Lahar area in the Bhind district.

The driver apparently lost control between Sundarpura and Antiyanpura. Sources said the driver was allegedly sleep deprived.

As soon as the incident occurred, the police reached the spot and rescue workers took the injured to the hospitals. The four people who were critically injured in the accident are currently undergoing treatment.

Sub-divisional officer of police Avneesh Bansal said the victims hail from Oraiya district in UP. “They had come to MP on Friday to pay obeisance at the temple and were returning when the accident took place,” he said.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
