The manager of a resort near Bandhavgarh National Park in Umaria has confessed that he had raped the South Korean student.

A short while after a Maharastra Police team reached Umaria — 516 km east of Bhopal — with the victim on Friday night, the local police said Deepak Vishwakarma had confessed to the crime.

Vishwakarma is the manager of the resort owned by Dushyant Singh, son of BJP MLA Nagendra Singh Gurh. On January 14, he had reportedly spiked the beer that he offered to her before raping her.

“We would verify the crime by making the victim identify him,” SP Manohar Singh told HT.
