Student commits suicide in Bhopal, act caught on CCTV

A 19-year-old engineering student committing suicide by jumping from the second storey of his hostel in Ratibad area of Bhopal on Friday late night. This was caught on CCTV camera installed on the college premises. This is the 12th suicide by a student in the state capital in last one month.

According to police, Rutvesh Shroff hails from Surat, in Gujarat, and was pursuing engineering first year from a local engineering college in Ratibad. Sources said that after chatting on a social media site on Friday night, around 11pm he jumped from his hostel balcony. The deceased has not left any suicide note.

The hostel guard, who heard the bang, rushed to the spot and took Rutvesh with the help of other students to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police has seized the body and sent it for post-mortem at Hamidia Hospital.

Police is investigating the case and questioning his friends and classmates to know why he took the extreme step. Police will also talk to his parents to know whether they had any inkling why their son took the extreme step.
