Mining baron Sudhir Sharma admitted that he knew former controller of examinations of Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) Pankaj Trivedi, former officer on special duty (OSD) to the then technical education minister OP Shukla and Congress leader Sanjeev Saxena, all accused in the PEB scam.
Sharma, arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) two days ago for his alleged role in the police constable recruitment scam, will remain in the STF custody till July 30.
During interrogation by the STF, he denied having recommended the names of any candidate but when he was shown a list of six candidates whose names he had allegedly proposed for the post of constables, he admitted that he knew them. However, he said he had neither sent their names to Trivedi, nor had he taken any money from them.
According to an STF officer, Sharma said various people had approached him during the recruitment test but he did not entertain their requests but the officer said they had sufficient evidence against Sharma.
Sharma might face some former PEB officials and accused in the scam including Pankaj Trivedi, Nitin Mahindra and Sanjeev Saxena who are on judicial custody and the STF may seek the custody of the three.
