Two persons, who had broken into a house at Pipra village in Chhatarpur district late Sunday night with the intention to commit theft, stripped a 45-year-old woman and put salt and chilli powder in her private parts.

According to the police, the woman was alone at home when Jagdish Ahirwar and Betu Ahirwar entered her house. They tied the woman to her bed and blindfolded her. However, as they talked to each other, the woman recognised their voice and threatened to inform the police.

Furious with the threat, the two thieves stripped the woman and put salt and chilli powder in her private parts before escaping with valuables and Rs 22,000.

The victim's husband and children had gone to the farm to irrigate the land when the incident occurred. When they returned home in the wee hours, they untied the woman and lodged an FIR about the incident with Patha police station.

Police have registered a case and the accused are said to be absconding.
