Three minor girls were abducted and raped in separate incidents in Madhya Pradesh while the country celebrated Holi.

A 10-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a 36-year-old man on Wednesday in Khajuri Kalan village under Avadhpuri police station of Bhopal. Police said Pramod Sharma, a labourer, lured the minor with chocolates from near the Ram Mandir in the village at around 6:30pm on Wednesday.

“The accused, who was in an inebriated state, took the girl to a nearby field and raped her,” said Raman Singh Sikarwar, deputy inspector general, Bhopal. “The police suspect that (Sharma) might have recced the village before abducting the girl.”

During interrogation, Sharma informed the police about the location of the victim, following which she was rescued and taken to a hospital. The girl is said to be out of danger.

“The accused didn’t try to kill the girl after raping her and left her in the field after the incident,” Sikarwar said.

The accused was arrested on Thursday evening from the same village on the basis of CCTV footage from a nearby shop and booked under the National Security Act, the POCSO Act, and the SC/ST Act.

3-year-old raped in Rewa

In another incident, a three-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a 30-year-old man in Rewa’s Kauwadhan village under Churhata police station.

The incident took place on Thursday evening when the victim’s parent left her at home to go work in the field. The accused, Tulsidas Saket, who lives in the same neighbourhood, took the girl to a pump-house in the nearby fields to rape her.

However, her parents heard her cries on their way back and intervened. The accused fled the scene, but was caught the next morning from the same village.

“The victim is now out of danger, and the police have registered a case against the accused for abduction and rape under section 363, 376 of IPC and 3/4 of protection of children from sexual offences Act,” said sub-inspector Vijay Singh.

Minor Dalit girl sexually exploited in Chhatarpur

In the third incident, a minor Dalit girl was abducted and raped in Chhatarpur district’s Haripur village.

Bhaghwa station officer AS Parihar said the 16-year-old girl’s family was watching a cricket match on TV on Wednesday while she was asleep in another room.

However, they later found her missing and filed a complaint.

The next day, the police received information about the girl being sighted in Sendhwa village under Badamalehra police station. She was rescued from a Jain dharamshala there.

The girl told the police that she received a call from one Solu Raja Bundela, who lured her on the pretext of an emergency. He and his accomplice, Sarafat Khan, then took her on a bike to the outskirts of Sedhwa village, where Bundela raped her. Both the accused are absconding.
